Bill Bates taken in 1943 in San Francisco aboard a Navy ship.
Movie star Leo Gorcey, star of the Bowery Boys movies, was a personal friend of Mr. Bates and visited him many times at his Modesto home.  These photos were taken in 1967.
Mr. Bates married Maxine Halsey in Carson City, Nevada on August 13, 1966.
