The most often asked question about our museum and website is "What are you looking for?" Here is our official mission statement:
The purpose of the museum and the website is to establish for the community a permanent and living repository of the people and equipment of Modesto area pioneer commercial radio stations and the preservation of historically significant apparatus, material, and documents.
The museum honors the people related to it's development connecting the past with the present to inform and preserve the heritage of those pioneers who brought commercial radio to the Modesto area. The museum is both archival and educational designed to be educational for the public.
Contributions
OK, so specifically what are we looking for?
1. Memorabilia, marketing advertisements or equipment.
2. Equipment or apparatus used by the commercial broadcast stations in Modesto and the area.
3. Newspaper or magazine articles.
4. Photographs of people, places or things.
5. Antique broadcast or radio receivers and related broadcast or amateur radio equipment.
6. Audio or video tapes or CD's of on the air, production sessions or out-takes.
7. Historical information on the stations or people who worked for them.
8. Interesting stories about the stations or the people
9. Antique radio receivers, tape recorders, recording devices, microphones etc.
10. Financial assistance.
11. Are my contributions tax deductible? YES!
12. Can I submit items ie photos, air checks, news stories etc. via email. Yes.

13. Why is there so much material on KTRB?
Simply because we have been able to locate more material on KTRB no doubt helped by the fact that it was the oldest station in the market coming on the air in 1933. We are not showing favoritism. We would like nothing better than to have the same amount, or more, information on all the other stations. It just so happens that many of us involved with this museum project worked at one time or another at KTRB also helps. So, please ... if you have something to contribute regarding any of the stations in the Modesto market please get in touch with us. We would be most happy to consider your contributions.
The Modesto Radio Museum is a California non-profit corporation. We appreciate your financial contributions in any amount, which assists us in acquiring new exhibits, paying for operating expenses.
PLEASE NOTE: The IRS has a general rule (see Publication 1771) which requires charitable donors to meet substantiation and disclosure requirements for federal income tax return reporting purposes on contributions of $250 or more: the donor is responsible for obtaining a written acknowledgment from a charity for any single contribution of $250 or more before the donor can claim this charitable contribution on his/her federal income tax return. Please note that this substantiation is not required if the annual total amount is less than $250. We will gladly provide you with written acknowledgment of your donation(s) if your total contributions within any year total $250 or more.
Donations of Recordings & Memorabilia
Do you have broadcast recordings, air checks, photographs, videos or other items pertaining to Modesto area radio stations from 1933 through 1995? Did you work at a local radio station, either on the air or behind the scenes? We would appreciate obtaining copies of any items that you may have in your private collection that you would like to share with our visitors! If you don't have tangible items, we welcome the opportunity to include your written or recorded memories of your experiences. If you can help please contact us.
