Maxon B. Sayre, who taught radio broadcasting at the Modesto Junior College speech department for 15 years, died May 30, 2004 at his Waterford home. He was 85. Mr. Sayre was the chief technician at  KTRB in the late 40s leaving to build Turlock's first radio station KTUR in 1949.  He served as Chief Engineer of the station for many years.
A native of Worthington, Minn., he lived in Waterford for 29 years. Mr. Sayre was a member of the Community Baptist Church, the W.H.E.A.T. (Old Engine Club), California Teachers Assn. and the Turlock Amateur Radio Club. He Amateur radio call-sign was W6GYN.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Sayre of Waterford; children, Michael Sayre of Modesto and Beth Martin of Sonoita, AZ., in addition to four grandchildren.  Remembrances were directed to Community Hospice in Modesto or the Community Baptist Church in Waterford or Modesto.
